Secrecy of Sin
Most sins, such as lying, stealing, abuse, rape, vandalism and some cases of disobedience are done in secrecy or where others will not realize it. For example, if Jonny was supposed to turn in his phone every night before he went to bed and one night he didn't and got away with it, he would not use his phone while sitting on his bed with the brightness turned up. He would turn the brightness all the way down and cover up his head and phone with the blanket before he played angry birds. This is because he knows that he is disobeying his parents and he is trying to keep it secret. Now lets say Jonny is a Christian and he knows God is watching him so he decides to turn his phone in, but he tells his parents he forgot to turn it in, instead of the truth. Here Jonny is not correcting his wrong, he is creating a new one. This is how most secret sin is, but usually in more extreme ways. It starts in secret and continues in secret. The secrecy of sin is not what makes it bad it is what makes it worse by either causing more sin or by making the person think it is okay since they did not get caught so they do not confess. Confession is the way we get right with God and others and without it life would really be a drag because everyone would always be feeling guilty about the sins they have done.
