Forgiveness Sets You Above

"Doing an injury puts you below your enemy; revenging one make you but even with him; forgiving it sets you above him."

Everyone has been hurt by someone and as humans our natural instinct is to get even with them and take revenge. We want to make them feel the same way they made us feel. We justify these actions by saying, "They did it first" or "They deserved it". When we act like this we are no better than our enemy and we are scooping down to their level. It takes much more strength and courage to forgive the people who hurt us. Forgiving is not only healing but we rise above of enemies when we forgive them. God tells us to forgive each other like he has forgiven us. Sometimes its hard to forgive people who have hurt you but it's worth it in the end.
