Little Strokes Fell Great Oaks
"Little strokes fell great oaks" is a proverb that is basically the opposite of "big things have small beginnings." It's the idea that a massive mountain can be eroded by just the rain or wind until nothing remains. I think this applies to American literature because I feel like the USA is like the great oak and it seems that our freedoms are being slowly ebbed away by little strokes. We need to be careful and actively trying to stop those strokes from chopping down America. From the opposite standpoint I love this quote because we can stand up to the forces of evil and fell them, no matter how rooted or large. I think the only thing that could really make this saying better would be "Through God, little strokes fell great oaks."
