Everyone sins. In life, that has never been an abnormality. People accept this, and people forgive this. However, secret sins are rarely every forgiven, because they are never given the chance. A person's secret sin is a stain of guilt on their lives, their hearts, and their soul. The stain remains because, instead of openly confessing, the person tries to hide their sin. They are forced to carry the weight of the guilt alone.
This is not what Christ hoped for us. The Lord instructed us to form churches, not only to praise him, but also to create Christian havens where sinners can come. The community of the Church is a place of accountability and forgiveness. By seeking Jesus along with our brothers and sisters in Christ, we find a home where everyone seeks to be like our perfect Lord. It is in this home that we can finally let go of our secret sins. When this burden is finally set aside, we can follow Christ with even more joyful hearts. It is through confession that we find forgiveness for our secret sins, and through forgiveness that we find healing.
