The Upper East Side Is All Abuzz

Hey there, East Siders. Gossip Girl here. Your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's Elite.

SPOTTED, Blair and Serena were frivolously shopping at Tiffany's and dining at Per Se which is a New American cuisine and one meal would cost $325 per person. Looks like our two favorite besties are having the time of their lives, while poor Nate Archibald seems to be in a bit of a pickle. His father is unemployed due to embezzlement. Good thing Nate has his billionaire friend Chuck Bass to help him out. It’s not really news, but if you haven’t noticed, New York City’s cost of living is pretty steep — and getting worse year after year. Just renting a shoebox-sized room in this city can cost an arm and a leg, which makes most people wonder: If that’s the case, how does anyone afford to live here? The problem can’t really be traced back to a single factor, but rather it’s a conglomeration of issues that continue to compound the problem. Long story short: New York City’s population is growing rapidly and new housing isn’t entering the market at the same rate. Combined with the fact that rent prices are rising faster than incomes every year, New Yorkers (that are not as fortunate as Queen B) are suffering big time.
But something about this city keeps people moving in by the thousands. So, if you’re wondering what makes New York City so expensive, here’s your answer.

See you all tomorrow, you know you love me.

Xoxo <3 shoutout to those of you who got that reference!
