In the South we are known for our hospitality, accents and fried foods. I guess this is why the chubbiest state in our nation is in the South. Mississippi, the chubbiest state in our nation, has held this title for the past decade, with an adult obesity rate of 33% and states such as Tennessee are not far behind with rates of 30%. In fact eight of the ten chubbiest states are in the south. In Mississippi, this is due in part to the 21% of people living below the poverty line whose only option is cheap fast food. This is also due in part to many of the citizens being lazy and not engaging in mush physical activity, but seriously who wants to go for a run in the hot, humid southern summer. I guess the south will always be chubbier than the rest of the country because of things like poverty, lack of grocery stores, and less physical activity, but at least we know how to cook.
I believe that from now on all "obesity rates" should be called "chubbiness rates." That is hilarious.
