safe haven(or nah)

It was finally looking the way I wanted. My cozy home was finally coming together. It had been a few weeks since I had arrived in this small town, and it hasn't been easy. It was just nice that things were all starting to come together. The small home isn't much, but it serves its purpose. These back parts of the woods, with the tall trees shading all view of the house, created a sweet haven of sweet smells and security during the day. At night, the trees also blocked out the moonlight. Tonight, it was unusually darker, and the sweet smell of pine was absent. It was time for bed. The small projects around the house could resume tomorrow. A sudden chill ran down my spine as a ray of light pierced the darkness outside. I ran to the corner, where the light could not reveal my presence. It was small at first, but the light shone bigger and brighter as each second passed by. My heart began to beat so hard. Creaking. The same creaking that the porch steps leading to the door made. Darkness and sudden silence. Voices. Familiar voices. The same she had been running from. Escape.
