He's Here

It all started about a month ago. I had just turned 16 and was excited for the new freedom I would have. But, instead of getting a new car for my birthday, I was ripped away from my friends and the life I knew. I was taken from New York to the middle of no where, Oklahoma. I was so angry that my parents would do this to me but I was even more enraged when I saw the house we moved to. There was no one around for miles. The house was painted a faded cream color that was cracking and wearing away. Panels and shutters were falling off the house, I could tell it was extremely old. The inside was covered in cobwebs and everything looked like it hadn't been touched in 50 years. The old house creaked with every step. The antique furniture had a thick coat of dust on it and the fabric was fraying at the ends. As I complained about these things to my father, he said "so its a bit of a fixer-upper. You'll survive." After a few days I had finally accepted my fate that I would have no life and that I would die alone. I noticed something wasn't right about this house. After a week of living there I began to hear things. The odd creak here, an unwarranted squeak or shift there. I convinced myself that it was all in my head and that I was just so lonely that my mind was playing tricks on me. As the days went on these sounds changed. One night I was trying to fall asleep when the noises became increasingly loud. The creaky sounds turned into foot steps. They were surrounding me. I heard them above me, below me, and all over the walls. They stopped. Silence. It was so quiet that it was eerie. Then I heard a whisper. And another. There were hundreds of voices whispering to me. They said, "He's coming for you." The whispers grew louder and began to yell at me. I was terrified. I tried to run away but when I jumped out of my bed I slipped on something wet. The ground was covered in a thick dark liquid. I looked at my hands and realized it was blood. I tried to scream but no sound came out of my mouth. I managed to stand up but the voices continued, "There's nothing you can do" "Get out while you still can." Fear overcame me I ran outside but I could still hear the voices. I ran and I ran as far as I could. I was in the middle of a field of land that my family owned. The voices and darkness surrounded me and I couldn't escape. A figure appeared in the distance. The voices said "Its too late he's here." I tried to run but it felt like my feet were nailed to the ground. I collapsed screaming and crying in the dirt for what seemed like hours waiting for my fate. Then I felt a hand on my back. I screamed then I heard a familiar voice. I opened my eyes and it was daylight and my mother was standing behind me. There was no one in the field and the voices had stopped. I was no longer covered in blood. My mother took me home and I tried to explain what happened to my parents but they thought I was going insane. I refused the stay there another night but there was no where else to go. My parents convinced me to stay and luckily the voices did not come back. I was starting to think all of it was in my head and none of what happened that night was real. About a week ago the voices came back but instead of saying sentences they just said one word, "Seven" they said it over and over again. I was very confused and didn't know what it meant then the next day they said "six." I realized they were counting down. last night they said "one." Night time is quickly approaching and I'm terrified. What every they have been counting down for is tonight. What will the voices say? as I crawl into my bed the sounds begin. This time they weren't whispers. They are back to the original eerie creaks and groans. Silence overtakes the room and then one voice whispers "He's here."

Scary Stalker

As I walked home from school I just knew I was being watched. I peeked over my shoulder only to see something step into the alley I had just passed. I quickened my pace and when I got home my parents were not there. They must have been held up at their jobs so I would have to hop the fence to get in through the back door. After hopping the fence I heard someone walk up the front porch and bang on the door. I then ran inside and peeked through the kitchen window to see who it was. It was the mailman with a package to big to fit in the mailbox. After getting the package I locked the front door and went up stairs to put the package in my parents room. Just before I left the room I heard the floor creak. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw him. He was six feet tall at least and he had just entered my little brothers room. As I tiptoed out of the room to get my phone the floor creaked, he poked his head out of the room and the last thing I remember was him grab me by the throat and throw me down the stairs where my little brother stood defenseless.

Halloween 1996

Halloween night I have been looking forward to this night all month this is the first year my mom is letting me go with my friends.  I live in the little town of Haddonfield, Illinois where we take this night very serious every one dresses up and every gives out candy.  I'm going as the boogieman and my two friends are going as a Doctor and a sheriff.  It is about seven o'clock we have just started trick or treating around eight are bags where almost full and thats when we past the house.  This house is not like any other house it has been abandoned since December 1963.  All the windows are broken it is over grown with vines and trees, all the paint has peeled off of it the wood has rotted and turned black but to top it all off the last person who went in side was never seen again.  Suddenly we see something moving in side it we cannot make out what it is.  We take a step closer to get a better look as we get closer we are able to make out a shape it's a human.  As we keep walking closer it keeps walking closer then it just disappears.  We take off running when we get to the end of the street we turn around to see if there is anyone behind us and there he is standing out side of his house the real boogie man the one person every one in this town fears.  He starts walking closer to us so we start to run as we start to he disappears.  We start to go back to my house to tell my parents but the only way to get back to my house it to walk back past his house.  As we are approaching his house we she someone standing at the end of the street it is my older sister who is looking for us, we start to run to her to tell her what happened.  When we get to her she is petrified with fear she slow starts to point across the street where he stands.

The end

safe haven(or nah)

It was finally looking the way I wanted. My cozy home was finally coming together. It had been a few weeks since I had arrived in this small town, and it hasn't been easy. It was just nice that things were all starting to come together. The small home isn't much, but it serves its purpose. These back parts of the woods, with the tall trees shading all view of the house, created a sweet haven of sweet smells and security during the day. At night, the trees also blocked out the moonlight. Tonight, it was unusually darker, and the sweet smell of pine was absent. It was time for bed. The small projects around the house could resume tomorrow. A sudden chill ran down my spine as a ray of light pierced the darkness outside. I ran to the corner, where the light could not reveal my presence. It was small at first, but the light shone bigger and brighter as each second passed by. My heart began to beat so hard. Creaking. The same creaking that the porch steps leading to the door made. Darkness and sudden silence. Voices. Familiar voices. The same she had been running from. Escape.

The Blinking Clock

I shut the door behind me. It had been an exhausting day at work and I was glad to be home. Dinner was delightful, a warm broccoli cheddar soup filled my stomach.
"The cheddar must attract the mice," I joked to myself, listening to the house creaking. It was old, and wood. These sort of things are natural, and I'd gotten used to it. It was my house after all.
I sat down to watch a few episodes of my show, and at length when I had finished, the usual wave of drowsiness hit me. I made my way upstairs promptly at 10:45 like always. While brushing my teeth, I looked into the mirror and contemplated life (like we all do at some point)while my tooth brush cleaned back and forth. I narrowed my eyes.
"Did my reflection just move?" A momentary tense of my muscles left and I began laughing to myself. Those horror movies are so cliche...
I made a face to my reflection in the mirror and finished preparing for bed. Jumping into bed at exactly 11:25, I rolled into my covers and killed the light. Sleep seemed nice, and the dark embraced me,
But tossing and turning was all I received. I could never find the right position. I turned on my side and began to watch my clock blink. Every second. Blink. Blink. Blink. The rhythm began to lull me. I was almost there, almost to sleep, when a click of metal broke my rhythmic trance. It sounded like the opening of a door latch. I covered my head with a pillow. Somewhere far off it sounded like glass breaking. Groggily I rolled over, annoyed at my stupid house for being old and loud.
I tensed, "What was that?"
A slow scrape and the tiniest of vibrations disturbed my room, so I sat up trying to see in the dark. I concentrated on the sound, furrowing my brow. Something was moving? Are my eyes messing with shadows?
"Ugh, I wish I could sle...."
I froze, not finished my thought. The bathroom door was slowing moving open. I couldn't breathe, my muscles were rigid with anticipation, and my heart leapt into my throat. Was I breathing still? Who cares? I tried to fixate on the sounds, the slight movement, but a white noise filled my ears from straining to hear.
A flash of movement, and before my paralyzed body could react, the cold hand was around my throat and a sharp silvery finger plunged into my chest. It twisted and tore into my chest, cutting like glass upon skin. It was glass. My heart struggled to continue. The figure removed its finger from within my chest cavity, and plunged in two more. The face, staring at my face. It was an inch away from my eyes. The eyes, they were reflective, and strangely familiar. Another shock of pain racked my body as the sharp silvery fingers penetrated my rib cage once more, ripping through muscles, organs, and skin. Those eyes. The silver. Familiar face. Thoughts streamed through my head. Glass tinkling. My bathroom mirror.
No.
It isn't me.
I screamed internally, I'm not dying, those eyes they can't..they can't be my own. The figure is still inflicting horrors upon my body, like a thousand shards of glass have entered my chest and now try to escape, but are deep within.
I stared into the silvery face, twisting my face in agony. The cold face, I realized it was my own. My heart stopped, my head rolled, the Reflection punctured my body once more. My life ceased. The last I glimpsed through fuzzy vision, the blinking clock.
It was 12:07.

Gasping, I sit up, sweating. I feel my chest. No holes. I sigh. Just a dream. My heart still racing, I lay back down, almost asleep. Glass tinkling? What is that noise again? From my bathroom I hear glass, and the door begins to creak open. I stiffen, my breath is caught. Pain seeps through my body as I realize the truth.
The blinking clock reads 12:06.

America is Unique

The United States is a country of economic prosperity, having a one-of-a-kind story of becoming an independent nation through the will and pride of its people.  Starting from humble beginnings as colonies and turning into a booming industrial nation, America is the land where we overcame the odds of failure. Our wars were won with American pride and our businesses fueled by the hard working American. The goal of our people is to achieve the “American Dream”, a concept that grasps our nation and gives us the motive to achieve our goals.  No other country has such a dream for their people, this is one of the reasons why we are such a diverse nation; people want the “American Dream” because there is no other dream like it. We are such an accepting country, allowing anyone with a passion and good work ethic to achieve their wildest dreams. The words, “Land of the free and the home of the brave” attracts people of all race, gender or color.  Given that we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights protecting our freedoms and beliefs, America is the ideal country for someone looking to live without fear of their government.  We can practice religion freely, show our true beliefs about the nation, and respect each other’s ideas peacefully without fear of imprisonment or harm from our government.  Living a nation that allows freedom, opportunity and dreams to come true is why the United States is a unique country.
